It was planned that the E8 would eventually run from Ireland through England, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Rumania, and Bulgaria to Turkey. Around 2,671 miles (4,300 kilometres) had already been designated. But the sections through Ukraine, Romania, parts of Bulgaria and Turkey had yet to be created. The path was only complete as (a continuous trail) as far as the Beskid Pass on the Ukraine border with Bulgaria. It had in the main been made by linking a series of previously defined long distance trails.
